Jasmine Fisher Turns a 32-Square-Metre Rented Office Into a Warm Studio

Interior designer Jasmine Fisher has created an atmospheric studio for her London practice, using warm colours and curated artworks to give the space a more homely feel. The 32-square-metre rented space was originally a harshly lit, impersonal white box.

The Moonza view

Many small offices are rented, and their occupants assume that because walls cannot be removed, nothing can be done. This project shows that colour, light, furniture and a few artworks can make even a 32-square-metre room pleasant and professional.

The biggest enemy of a small office is harsh white fluorescent light. Replacing it with warmer light and adding a desk or floor lamp changes the mood. A good desk, a comfortable chair, a small sofa for visitors and shelving for books and samples are all a small professional office needs.

  • In a rented office, change colour and light rather than demolishing
  • Replace harsh fluorescent light with warm light and a desk lamp
  • A small visitor sofa makes the office more welcoming
