Cubitts’ First Headquarters Takes Over a Victorian Stable in King’s Cross

British firm 51 Architecture has converted the former stables of a vinegar brewery off Caledonian Road in King’s Cross into a head office for eyewear brand Cubitts, now home to what is described as the only spectacle-making workshop in central London.

The Moonza view

Combining offices and production workshops in one building is a trend among maker brands that want design, sales and making teams close together. The challenge is a space that suits both desk work and hands-on technical work.

Workshops and technical areas need industrial chairs with adjustable height and tough seats, plus sturdy workbenches; office areas need ergonomic chairs and standard desks. Coordinating colours and materials across both makes the building feel unified and reinforces the brand.

  • For workshop areas, choose tough, adjustable industrial chairs
  • Link office and workshop zones through coordinated colour and material
  • Showing the workshop to visitors builds trust in quality
