Eight Cottage Living Rooms Fit for a Rural Retreat
Dezeen’s latest lookbook features eight living rooms in cottages united by peaceful interiors, from the Scottish Highlands to Czechia’s Bohemian Forest, blending contemporary and traditional elements.
The Moonza view
The cottage living room, with soft sofas, warm timber, woollen fabrics and gentle light, is one of the most restful interior styles. Its popularity shows that people, especially after years of remote work, want spaces that prioritise rest and calm.
The mood is not only for villas and cabins; staff break rooms, hotel lounges and even clinic waiting corners benefit. A deep-seated sofa, an armchair, a rug and a floor lamp make a space cosy without renovation.
- A deep-seated sofa in soft fabric is the basis of a cosy room
- An armchair beside gentle light creates a reading corner
- Warm timber and woollen fabrics bring a cottage feel anywhere
