The Moonza view

Communal spaces such as the lobby, lounge and breakfast room matter especially in aparthotels, because they are where guests meet and form their main impression of the hotel. Drawing on a city’s artistic history, such as the Vienna Secession with its geometric and gilded motifs, gives these spaces local character.

For hotels and residences, communal areas should combine comfortable seating for long stays with tables for work or meals. A large shared table, a few sofa corners and armchairs, and details from local art turn a lobby into a place guests want to linger.

  • In hotel lobbies, combine a shared table with sofa corners
  • Draw on your own city’s art and history for details
  • Communal furniture must be comfortable and durable for long sittings
