Barcelona’s Focacha Bar Uses Colourful Modular Seating Inspired by Verner Panton
Spanish designer Isern Serra has completed Focacha, a speakeasy bar in Barcelona for hospitality group Grupo La Confitería, featuring multi-coloured modular furniture that evokes Verner Panton’s retro-futuristic 1960s installations.
The Moonza view
Modular furniture, pieces that can be arranged in different configurations, is very practical for hospitality and lounge spaces: one day a long row of seating, another day several small conversation islands. Colour, if controlled, makes the space cheerful and memorable.
For company lounges, waiting areas in training centres or cafés, modular sofas provide flexibility. The trick is colour: either two or three coordinated hues, or one signature colour among neutrals. Durable, washable fabric is essential in high-traffic spaces.
- Modular sofas make lounge and waiting layouts flexible
- With colourful furniture, choose two or three coordinated colours
- Ask for durable, washable fabric in busy spaces
